This class has no doubt been the most fun class I've had since I started college. I'm so glad I got such an interesting teacher, and the environment was nice for making friends. The whole draft process was really amazing because it forced me to sit down and write! I wouldn't ever trade the knowledge I got in this class because it will definitely come in handy for the future.
Reading my first post really made me wonder what in the world I was thinking. Reading it not makes me think I was saying, "I'm good, I don't have to try, it'll come easy." Man was I WRONG. I have a long ways to go and I'm not sure if that's a good think or a bad thing! Obviously knowledge is power so I'll just have to keep on going, "Performance, feedback, revision." That's going to stick with me by the way!
Anyways, I didn't try enough at the begining of the class, I can see that. I came in with the wrong attitude and I'm glad I got my eyes opened early. I feel like this class prepared me in more ways than just writing and I'm glad to see that I have improved a little. I can write a decent paper, although it could be tons better! That will come in time, as long as I know there's a problem it'll be quite easy to fix!! I spent a lot of time trying to make my essays sound good. I have the ideas and I know what I wanted to say, but I was horrible at expressing them. The whole "joining the conversation" concept went straight over my head, which just means I'll have to try more on that! I do feel I improved on the supporting ideas part of my writing though.
All in all, I learned alot and I'm gonna use everything I learned in the future to make sure I can write papers that Prof. Thompson would be proud of! :) Not to mention our power point rocked!

ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I have to say that I am glad I read your blogs on my little laptop rather than the big screen at home. John's comment made me realize that all the priests staring at me might be a little freaky if they were any bigger. ;)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed watching you evolve as a writer and inquisitive learner in life. You are a talented writer and have a clear comfort with expressing yourself through language, and yet, you are humble and open enough to see where you can grow and learn more. Awesome!
I could see through your regular responses to comments posted on your blog that you were thoughtfully taking feedback into consideration and contributing to the conversation in more ways than just essay writing and class discussions.
I'm glad to see that you checked in with yourself mid-quarter and decided to put your all into the rest of the course. :) Your contributions to class were part of what made it a great class!
