Critical Thinking & Writing!?

Critical thinking.. man this is always fun! I love being able to read something and basically be able to pull an opinion of what I read out of thin air. I was really good at this in high school when we were reading books and such, but trying to do it on more academic papers is more of a challenge. I really don't like having to form an opinion on someone's writing when it could be completely different from what they are truly trying to say. Obviously analyzing a poem and forming an argument on the point of interest is way different from analyzing someone's research. I still think I'm okay at it, but when it comes to making connections with other sources that I have read... well basically I'm screwed. My brain doesn't work that way, and it basically has to SCREAM it into my face that two things could be related. I'll have to work on that in the future and I'm glad I got to practice this quarter!

Writing is even more interesting. I had to write papers and I know they were all crap. That frustrates me to no end because I can make a cohesive argument in my head, but putting on paper is so hard in 5 pages! It sounds like a whole bunch of fluff and never quite works. When I do finally get my paper into good shape (in my eyes), it gets reviewed and suddenly I realize how bad it really was! I have quite a ways to go before I can get my thoughts on to paper and I'm ready for the challenge. I love english and if I could stop procrastinating maybe my papers would be a bit better! I learned so much about my writing and how to write papers and I wouldn't change the information for anything, not to mention our teacher rocked!
