"Blogs are a social genre. Bloggers don't simply write to their 'Dear Diary', they write into the world with a clear expectation of having readers. That readership does not necessarily need to be very large. On the internet, everyone is famous to fifteen people." (Blogger 57 ch.3)
I think that this applies nicely to my topic because it truly tells us that blogging isn't a sport or a competition, but a sole source of communicating thoughts to a few select people that think your opinion matters. You can be yourself, and if people don't like it, they don't have to read it. What truly makes blogging wonderful is the sense of self expression that one is able to achieve through a blog.
I think it is great to be able to blog, because it gets your opinion out to the world and lets everyone feel a sense of self importance, which is great for ones self esteem. I'm glad "Blogging" addresses this and I hope that my essay allows me to shine a little of my views through, if I deem them acceptable!
I totally agree with your post as far as blogging being "a sole source of communicating thoughts," that is definitely how I see it as well. Also, I thought your presentation was great, you are a very thoughtful and a thinker kind of person! You had a ton of information and you can take your essay in many directions! Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that you talked about how blogging is about a space for people to express the self and gain a strong sense of self (importance). What do you think happens to the blogger's self-esteem if they gain a following of people who don't agree with them, or worse, criticize them personally? Your reading of Blogging book got me thinking about a really important social ramification of this digital form of journaling. Thanks!
ReplyDeletebtw-I don't see any reflection on your presentation.
WOW i really couldnt have said it better myself. I like that you said that blogging is not a sport of competition.I fully agree, i feel like the blogger state of mind has to be like a get with it or get lost, in other words if you like what im writing cool follow and we will talk if not kick rocks
ReplyDeleteThanks for agreeing guys! In my opinion, if someone is blogging and gets a bad group of followers, more than likely they are either going to stop posting depending on how self concsious they are, or just continue to blog on the things they love because that's all that really metters when it pertains to blogging!
